Excuse me?  Did I miss a smilie?  "Unsanctioned" isn't the same as 
"forbidden".  Players may use any conventions they choose to unless 
some applicable regulatory body makes a rule forbidding them from doing 
so.  There is no need for anyone to positively "sanction" a convention 
before it can be used.  Else it would be illegal to play any 
conventions at all in the jurisdiction of an SO that has no policies 
whatsoever with regard to the use of any conventions.
