       My problem with this thread is that it is discussing 
what is a logical alternative action for a player of his 
peer quality, playing his methods in the circumstances 
of the situation. If he tells us he would do 'x', and we 
believe him, I think it presumptuous to assert that 'x' is 
not, for him, a logical alternative action.
       In the WBF Code of Practice we did attempt to 
address the issue in our guidance for appeals committees.
We say: "A 'logical alternative' is a different action that,
amongst the class of players in question and using the 
methods of the partnership, would be given serious 
consideration by a significant proportion of such players,
of whom it is reasonable to think some might adopt it".
    I opine that to maintain that his action is not a 'logical 
alternative' for the purposes of the law requires an element 
of disbelief as to the player's assertion or a finding that he 
is not supported by a requisite (minority) quota of his peers.
