That is not the normal meaning of 'General Knowledge'. If everyone's
'General Knowledge' was the same then a 'General Knowledge Quiz' would
be a waste of time since we would all give the same answers. But these
quizzes are commonplace because it is acknowledged that 'General
Knowledge' varies from individual to individual.
'General Knowledge' is simple knowledge that is generally available to
everyone. It is not necessary acquired by everyone. In the bridge
law book it is contrasted with 'Special Information ... through
partnership understanding or experience' (Capitalisation is mine).
