Probably not, although I do recall playing lunchtime rubber when I  
first got to England with a colleague with whom I hadn't played  
before. The auction went 1S on my left, X-P, and I took it out.  
Partner came down with an opening hand with five spades. He asked my  
why-in-Hell I took out his penalty double. I asked him why-in-Hell he  
*made* a penalty double. He said "that's what my mother taught me."  
His name, btw, was Paul Squire. I don't know if he's related to the  
Norman Squire three of whose books on bidding I have. :-)
