One definition of "profession" (as opposed to "job" or "trade") is an
occupation where the standards of conduct are set by the profession
itself rather than the employer. Doctors, lawyers, and accountants,
among others, fall into this category (as several prominent accounting
companies have recently found, to their cost). It seems to me TD is a
profession in this sense, but I don't suppose everyone will agree.
