East's bid says something specific about two suits, spades and diamonds, so 
a lead of either of those can be either mandated or disallowed.

Note that, according to the footnote to L26, if a splinter is replaced by a 
minimum bid in the suit, the denomination may be considered "not repeated".

This is a striaghtforward case ; I've always felt uncomfortable about 
insufficient cases where there can be different interpretations of the 
player's intention, eg 2S (2D) : did he intend to open 2D, or overcall 2D 
over 1S (or 2C), or did a ground-skimming cow make him forget that 2D was 
lower than 2S ?
