My mother's "make it good dearie" has worked for years, perfectly
adequately. Why throw the baby out with the bathwater.? The new L27 is an
attempt to extend what is ok and if it produces bridge results more often
(which your method manifestly doesn't) then it's probably a good thing. I
share your concern about the interpretations, but club bridge is hardly
played according to law at best, and Tournaments tend to have a degree of
competence in the TD staff. Plus ca change! John
