The riding clothing that I had in Australia consisted of a pair of leather pants, reinforced on the thighs, butt and knees. A pair of mid-thigh boots, and at first a ex-cash-converters leather jacket, and then a proper jacket with kidney protection.
I made do with two pairs of gloves, the summer pair being somewhat on the light side, and the winter pair being, well, better.
I have a kevlar jacket with, in addition to the normal elbow (etc) padding, has extra thermal inserts for when it gets a trifle nippy. But thats not enough, and I've also got an electrically-heated inner liner, with heated gloves and socks to match.
Leather pants as well, and a new set of boots (but the old ones, with replacement soles, are better).
